Mmmm. I love Sloppy Joes with coleslaw and potato fries, especially when they’re served on brioche buns! That is just a match made in heaven. We had the craving for these for days..and when I made them, man…….they disappeared in no time!
If you’re in a need to feed a crowd, these Sloppy Joes are the crowd pleasers!! Ridiculously good looking, messy, sweet, spicy and super easy to make.
So here is my personal spin on this American Classic!
1 pound lamb mince
1 small green pepper, chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 tablespoon butter
1/2 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon flour or corn flour
1 Bay leaf
1 teaspoon paprika powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon allspice mix or Garam masala
1/2 tablespoon garlic, minced
1/2 tablespoon ginger, minced
2 tablespoons BBQ sauce (I used Tesco Texas BBQ sauce)
1 tablespoon tomato paste
1/2 cup tomato sauce (I used Tesco finest Passata)
1/2 tablespoon Sriracha or hot sauce
1 tablespoon honey, more to taste
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
Burger cheese slices(I used Tesco Lighter 10 Cheese Singles)
1/2 Red Onion scliced and pickled with salt and lemon juice (optional)
Sald leaves or your choice of greens
In a large saucepan, brown the lamb mince in oil and butter with onion, allspice, paprika, salt, pepper, garlic and ginger on a medium heat.
Add green pepper and all the wet ingredients including Worcestershire sauce and tomato sauce, tomato paste, BBQ sauce, honey, vinegar and sriracha. Stir well to mix.
