April showers bring May flowers… but this time it brought us a few new babies as well as the pretty blooms and blossoms.
Babies of our family and friends!!
Well “Spring is a time for new beginnings” as they say.
With that inspiration in mind, today I am sharing one of my “Welcome baby cards” with you! I love making baby cards and this one is very close to my heart as I made it for my friends Poonam and Rick’s baby, Krish!
Such a smiley, cuddly little bundle of joy he is! I can’t seem to get enough of him. Cutest baby ever! 😍
Poonam and I have been friends for over a decade and had so much fun together in our past lives…when I say past lives that means when we were not mums😅.
Now we hang out and talk about baby food and potty training…🤣
So before I bore you with that detail, let me tell you how I made this card!!
I used Aquafine smooth 300gsm watercolour paper by Daler Rowney, my all time favourite for water colour backgrounds.
To create the sky in the background, I applied Tim Holtz distress ink in “broken china” & “peacock feathers” and “shabby shutters” for the green grass, with a sponge.
To create the clouds and grass patches I water sprayed that ink background in rather big spots and then dried it with my heat gun.
Next I applied a second generation stamping with one of Bo bunny stamps set of “musical notes” to create shadows in the sky. Used the same stamp set for the grass shadows and a gel pen to arrange the white and green flowers in the background.
To arrange the scene I have added a baby romper, pair of socks and a pair of baby pants on the clothesline out of pattern paper, by using my trusty old Sizzix big shot with Docraft Xcut baby icons Die set!
For the final touches, I used a diamanté alphabet K (for Krish) sticker from my stash on the romper and a big congratulations by using a Congratulations die from Cottagecutz. I improvised a border die to make the clothesline.
This card can easily adjust into Ikea Ribba frame 23x23cm and can be a cute addition to a nursery wall!
So here I am with my spring art project! Hope you like it and if you do, please leave me a comment below!! 😊
